Will Kamala Harris be the next U.S. President? Let’s look at her secondary progression and transits for the Presidential Inauguration on January 20, 2025. But let’s also look at the wild card…. Mars Retrograde!
Secondary Progressions and Transits
Just in case you don’t know, Secondary Progressions (SP) use “a day equals a year” formula. They are like your inner clock that starts ticking the moment you are born. Your progressed chart is based on your birth chart and is used in conjunction with your birth chart. This chart is very personal and reveals how you’ve evolved since birth.
It’s widely believed that Secondary Progressions reflect an inner evolution, whereas transits are linked to more concrete outer events. In my experience it seems that your Secondary Progressions get you inwardly ready for events that are about to happen in your life.
Kamala Harris’ Secondary Progressions
During her Secondary Progressed (SP) New Moon in 2008, Harris announced her candidacy for California Attorney General. She won and was sworn in on January 3, 2011. As befitting an Aries Moon, she was the first woman, the first African American, and the first South Asian American to hold the Attorney General’s office in California’s history. Harris would later go on to be elected to the U.S. senate in 2016, and vice president in 2020.
In December 2023 Harris moved into her SP Full Moon phase.

Also, in December 2023 Harris’ SP Venus moved from Scorpio into Sagittarius. SP Venus in Sagittarius was to broaden her horizons, make her feel freer, and more adventurous, as well as more open to express her values and truths. This is a happy-go-lucky placement, that would get her ready for anything and everything.
Kamala Harris Natal Chart with Secondary Progressions
I’m not going to go into defining the particulars, because what’s interesting to me is that so many SP aspects to her natal planets are so close to exact, with less than 1° orb (see chart below) on January 20, 2024. All of these aspects have been slowly growing in intensity and are at their strongest when exact. After the exactness, the intensity will gradually dial back, but the person, in this case Kamala Harris, will be forever changed.
Kamala Harris Presidential Inauguration Transits
Here again I’ll leave the particulars to you, because what fascinated me was that once again so many transits are also within 1° of exact on January 20, 2025
Transiting planets are significant because they highlight and activate potentials in a person’s life. The impact of a transit is strongest when the transiting planet makes an exact aspect to a planet in the natal chart. This interaction can bring about changes or events that shape personal growth and life experiences.
The Wild Card- Mars Retrograde
Both Harris and Trump have Mars in Leo (yes, they’re conjunct.) So they’re both warriors with an immense amount of energy and vitality. For better or worse each has a big personality that draws people to them, and both excel in situations where they can take center stage.
Kamala Harris has Mars at 21° Leo, in her third house. Trump has Mars at 27° Leo Conjunct his ASC. Both were headed toward their Mars return. But the sky seems to have decided that they will have to wait until long after the election and the January 20th Presidential Inauguration.
Mars Retrograde in Leo & Cancer: December 2024 to February 2025
- October 4, Mars enters its pre-retrograde shadow at 17° Cancer 01′
- December 6, Mars stations and turns retrograde at 6° Leo 10’Rx
- February 23, 2025, Mars stations and turns direct at 17° Cancer 01’D
- May 2, 2025, Mars leaves the post-retrograde zone at 6° Leo 10′
Mars Retrograde Impact on Kamala Harris’ Birth Chart
This Mars Rx is in Kamala’s 2nd house. As Mars moves forward, backward, then forward again in Cancer it will Square her Libra Sun and Aries Moon opposition (exact Full Moon), her Mercury (ruler of her ASC and North Node.) Mars will also Sextile Venus in Scorpio (ruler of her Libra Sun) and Sextile Jupiter in Taurus (ruled by Venus conjunct Pluto and Uranus in Virgo).
With Mars turning retrograde on December 6, 2024, Kamala may be dealing with the challenges of winning the election, but win or lose, she’s likely to be feeling inner conflicts related to her worth and values (Mars Rx in 2nd house) as she plans what her next steps forward will be.
Donald Trump and Mars Retrograde
Mars Retrograde impact on Donald Trump’s Birth Chart
This Mars Rx cycle will be a bit more complex (and disheartening) for Trump. Mars will begin its Rx in Trumps 12th house one month after the election. During the time Mars first retrogrades in his 12th house Trump could isolate himself but there could be a lot of behind-the-scenes activity that he needs to keep secret (12th house) as he strategizes his next moves. But once Mars Rx moves back into Cancer, it will begin moving back and forth, activating his natal Venus conjunct Saturn at 23° Cancer, in the 11th house. Mars Rx in Cancer will also Square his Jupiter in Libra (ruled by Venus Conjunct Saturn in Cancer) and Trine his Scorpio IC.
Where’s the Love?
Trump’s Venus conjunct Saturn in Cancer is a classic indicator of a lack of love in his formative years and a constant feeling of never being enough. Because the natal conjunction is in Trump’s 11th house it also says something about Trump’s need to achieve things in order to feel attractive, loved and respected by “the people” (11th house.) Trump, who has said he’s loved by 200 million people, may not feel the love of the people during this Mars Rx cycle.
Painful childhood experiences are likely to be dredged up again and again when Trump’s Venus/Saturn Conjunction is activated by this Mars Rx transit. It’s almost assured that with T- Mars moving forward, back, and then forward again over this natal aspect, that his feelings of a “lack of love” will come to the forefront leading up to and following the election.
- Mid-October is when Mars in Cancer (transiting direct) will first activate Trumps Venus/Saturn conjunction.
- Then during the week of the U.S. Presidential Inauguration, T-Mars Rx will be activating Venus/Saturn again.
- After Mars stations and moves forward, it will once again be activated during the last days of March through the first few days of April.
When T-Mars begins to move forward again in Trumps 12th house, there could sill be a lot of behind-the-scenes activity that he needs to be kept secret (12th house.) BUT… the 12th house also rules places of confinement—such as prisons or jails. Keep in mind Trump has been convicted and is awaiting sentencing on 34 counts of felony, and there are a lot of other charges that have been brought against him.
Donald Trump will experience his Mars return on June 10, 2025.
Outcome?
Does all this indicate Harris will win the election and be the next U. S. President? Maybe Yes! Maybe No! Everything seems to indicate that there’s a good possibility that she will. But this entire Mars Rx cycle seems to indicate that whomever wins, the fall-out from the 2024 Presidential election could be wild and messy, especially if Mars Rx spins out of control. Let’s just hope and pray that this Mars Rx does not foretell a repeat of the Bush vs Gore 1999 election or a repeat of the January 6, 2021 insurrection.
