When the moon is in the seventh house
And Jupiter aligns with Mars
And peace will guide the planets
And love will steer the stars
This is the dawning of the Age of Aquarius
The “Age of Aquarius” entered common vernacular during the 1970s when The Fifth Dimension’s song, “Aquarius/Let the Sunshine”, became a rallying cry for the youth-led cultural revolution that touted a new age of peace, love, and light beyond the then-current Age of Pisces.
The Astrological Ages
There are Twelve Ages or epochs. They are all part of the “Great Year,” which lasts approximately 26,000 years. The Ages move backward through the signs of the zodiac. Instead of going from Aries to Taurus and onward through Pisces, they measure from Pisces to Aquarius and backward through all the signs to Aries. Each Age defines the qualities marking the evolution and focus of humanity during that particular Age.
Unfortunately, it’s difficult to pinpoint just when a new Age begins. For that reason, determining when an Age begins or ends is derived from examining the historical evolution of life on Earth and the mythology and philosophy connected to humanity during these periods.

The Age of Aquarius
Have we left the Age of Pisces and entered the Age of Aquarius? And if so, when?
During the Age of Aquarius, about 2,150 years, humanity’s task is to develop an altruistic spirit, learn to utilize technology in harmony with human evolution, and embrace the positive elements of individuality and freedom.
Aquarius is the Fixed Air sign concerned with mankind, futuristic thinking, and universal freedom. It’s also associated with technology, artificial intelligence, and space flight. Many astrologers consider the appearance and fast growth of technology over the past decades to indicate the dawning of the Aquarian Age.
But there is yet to be a consensus among astrologers. The best and brightest hold differing views about when the Aquarian Age will or did begin and what the Age of Aquarius may or may not bring. Many astrologers believe in the New Age utopian (emancipatory ideals of equality, democracy, and community) view of the Age of Aquarius. Others have different opinions.
“The late Robert Zoller, a major scholar, astrologer, medievalist, and Latin translator, had some bleak predictions for the Age of Aquarius. Zoller believed that the Pisces Age, a period in which religion became the “opiate of the masses,” would be replaced in the Aquarian Age by a world that is ruled by the Machiavellian political philosophy that “tis better to be feared than loved if one cannot be both.” Zoller predicted secretive, power-hungry elites would seek absolute power over others. He also believed that knowledge in the Aquarian Age would only be valued for its ability to win wars. He said the Aquarian “Jupiter Saturn alignment of 2020 – the Grand Mutation into the Air element – is the true commencement of the Age of Aquarius.” Source: Artemis Pages 12 and 13
What happened in 2020… The onset of the Covid 19 pandemic changed the world forever; there were world-wide protests against racial injustice, a contentious US election, and much more.
The Past Dies Hard
Recorded history reveals that entering a new Age has never been easy. Past movements into a new Astrological Age correspond with shifts and collapses in worldly power structures, economies, and belief systems. As the old slowly disintegrates and resists giving way to the new, chaos develops throughout the world.
For example, the height of the Egyptian Empire occurred during the Age of Taurus. As the Ages turned from Taurus to Aries, the Israelites made their exodus from Egypt, precipitating the fall of the Egyptian Empire and the rise of the Roman Republic (The Aries Age). It’s also thought that the rise of Christianity (The Pisces Age) precipitated the fall of the Roman Empire.
Fate or Freewill
Predictions like Zoller’s always ignite astrology’s ongoing debate regarding fate vs. free will. If we have indeed transitioned into the Age of Aquarius, will the next 2600 years be a utopian era or an Orwellian nightmare? Taking the “high road” may ultimately rest with the people.
Tis the Set of the Sail
Ella Wheeler Wilcox
But to every mind there openeth,
A way, and way, and away,
A high soul climbs the high way,
And the low soul gropes the low,
And in between on the misty flats,
The rest drift to and fro.
But to every man there openeth,
A high way and a low,
And every mind decideth,
The way his soul shall go.
One ship sails East,
And another West,
By the self-same winds that blow,
‘Tis the set of the sails
And not the gales,
That tells the way we go.
Like the winds of the sea
Are the waves of time,
As we journey along through life,
‘Tis the set of the soul,
That determines the goal,
And not the calm or the strife.
