“The color and fragrance radiating from the flowers attract the insects who carry on the sacred work of pollination. Psychic qualities also emanate from the flower, evoking love, passion, or healing in the hearts of the admirers. The fruit begins to form.” The Lunar Cycle by Philip Levine

The Disseminating Phase
Now in the Disseminating (Waning Gibbous) phase, you gain clarity. You interact with others, ask questions and share ideas, feelings, insights, and knowledge. You need help to align or re-align your vision with the entire cycle. You’re introspective as you review the feelings that prompted the action during the First Quarter Phase.
“…The agitation at the waning sesquiquadrate is about what to do with our insight. We’re moved to say something in the Disseminating phase, even though our message may still be green, not fully cooked. We’re like an initiate walking down the mountain after a peak experience. What was so lucid at the summit begins to dissolve, lose its clarity. In our very grasping to get it back, it starts to mutate, so that what we end up saying this may not be what the gods intended for us at all….” ~ Dana Gearhardt
Within the Disseminating phase is the waning trine(the Moon 120 degrees behind the Sun.) This waning trine brings ease and an easy flow of inspiration and idealism as you share your blessings with others.
New Job Example
Continuing with the new job example used in previous Moon Phase articles:
- During the New Moon phase, your dream of a new job became a goal.
- In the Crescent phase, realizing what a new job could mean raised all your doubts about yourself.
- In the First Quarter phase, you acted confidently, committed, and told others of your decision.
- In the Gibbous phase, you preserved and investigated the jobs available,
- Finally, during the Full Moon phase, you submitted resumes, went on interviews, and had a realization.
Whether you realize that your dream of a new job was a success or a failure, during the Disseminating phase, you must “reckon with that realization” and begin talking about it with others.
You’ll find that you’re drawn to like-minded people, share what you’ve learned, and start to ask questions. This leads to some understanding that will allow you to bring things to completion in the Fourth Quarter Phase.
Each of the 8 Lunar Phases lasts just under four days. During the Disseminating phase, the Moon is waning (decreasing in light) and moves from 225 to 270 degrees ahead of the Sun. The Moon rises late at night and sets well after Sunrise. In fact, you can see this Moon in the West in the early morning, floating against the pale blue sky.
Born During a Disseminating Phase
If you were born during the Disseminating phase, you are a communicator, teacher, or mentor who inspires others. The primary motivation in your life is to share your knowledge and wisdom with the world. This is the “guru” Moon. You feel the urge to reform the world, and your ideas and insights are often revolutionary. But those born during the “guru” Moon must ensure they have something worth sharing. To be a good teacher, you must first be a good student. Master the art of listening and observing, guard against becoming a self-righteous preacher, and be willing to reconcile your vision with the needs of others.
Example: Francis Ford Coppola was born in Detroit, Michigan, on April 17, 1939, at 1:38 am – Sun 16 degrees Aries, Moon 26 degrees Scorpio
Secondary Progressed Disseminating Phase
At the SP Disseminating Phase, you sense that something is beginning to shift; you’ve changed and grown and want to share what you’ve learned with others. You put your skills to work, build networks of friends, and demonstrate what you know. This is when you interact with others, ask questions, and share ideas, insights, and knowledge. Each SP Luner Phase lasts 3+ years.
Paul McCartney’s SP Solar/Lunar Disseminating Moon Phase
Paul McCartney was born in Liverpool, England, United Kingdom, on June 18, 1942, at 2:00 pm (birthtime accuracy: excellent). His SP Disseminating Moon Phase began on September 17, 1955. During his SP Disseminating Moon phase, fifteen-year-old Paul McCartney met John Lennon on July 6, 1957, and joined Lennon’s group, the Quarrymen, which became the Beatles after several name changes.
Note: The third and fourth quarters are the phases during which the visible portion of the Moon is waning (decreasing) toward the dark of the new Moon. There is a gradual reduction of the light received from the Moon, and the outward flow of energy gives way to processing what was initiated. Information is gathered, and elimination begins. Endings can be accomplished faster and more smoothly by aligning with this natural energy decrease.
