The Luck Factor

I met a Speech and Language Pathologist when I was working in Lake County, CA sometimes the state’s poorest.  For the sake of privacy and anonymity, let’s call her Joan.  She was a late edition to the staff, for a principal with a special needs child wanted services but did not want the child labelled.  The principal had gotten angry at a previous SLP and had the reputation of being vindictive.  Joan was given a special dispensation (more money) to come to our neck of the woods. She bought an A frame on the lake for $120,000.  After only staying there a year or two, Joan was able to sell her house for twice what she paid for it.  She also had another house and was able to garner a tidy profit on it as well. Finally, she procured a job back east near her daughter.  The company that hired her paid her moving expenses.   Joan, though divorced, had been married to a millionaire.

I remember looking up Joan in my ephemeris.  She was a Cancer with Jupiter, the planet of good fortune, conjoined her Sun. Joan liked outdoor activities.  These included paddling her kayak.  She had a Sagittarius Moon.

Certain aspects contribute in making a lucky nativity.  Jupiter in conjunction with the Moon or trine the lights may make the person have an easier time of it.

My brother-in-law is an extremely hard worker.  He is a Capricorn with a Cancer Moon.  Jupiter is also in Cancer and close to the Moon.  His chart contains quite a number of trines. His rise in the air force seemed meteoric.  He retired a Brigadier General after flying bombers in Viet Nam and the SR-71, the world’s fastest airplane.

One of the reasons my brother-in-law was able to do so well was because he was an extrovert.  Since they make connections easily and more of them, they have a better chance of climbing the ladder.  They’re also friendlier and better able to deal with office politics.  Extroverts are not generally overtly reactive to small slights.  They seem to have a thicker skin.

My brother-in- law also had a confident personality style.  That and the aggressive are more apt to rise to the top in the military, government, corporations, or politics.

A few people are naturally lucky.  I knew a student in graduate school who was from Las Vegas, and his mother-in-law was quite lucky.  On one occasion she entered a casino, picked a machine, and continually won jackpots.  The machine was not working properly and was shut down.  Whether this kind of luck is a product of natal aspects, progressions, transits, or some kind of combination of two or more is not known.

The following is a list in no ways comprehensive of the famous and affluent with Jupiter in some kind of favorable aspect. These businessmen had the Sun conjunction Jupiter:  Ross Perot, Kevin O’Leary on Shark Tank, and James J. Hill, the railroad magnate.

Jupiter in conjunction with Pluto can also give ability in business.  Warren Buffett and Bill Gates both have this aspect.

As an aside, Jupiter is also associated with the law, and these people had the Sun closely bound with it:  Nathan Benjamin Cardozo, Sonia Sotomayor, Patrick Hastings, Clarence Darrow, and Roy Cohn. [Sun conjoined with Jupiter can help bestow a cultured, well-developed mind]

Richard Branson, the British adventurer and billionaire, has the bucket pattern with Jupiter being the bucket handle or singleton.  He founded the Virgin Group in the 1970s, and it controls over 400 companies.*

Mars conjoined with Jupiter is an aspect of enterprise.  Both John D. Rockefeller and J.P. Morgan had this aspect.

Ray Kroc, who expanded McDonald’s, and Oprah Winfrey both have Sun trine Jupiter.  Winfrey also has Venus together with her Sun and Jupiter.
