“Pluto in Aquarius signifies a shift towards collective power and social change, where the emphasis moves from hierarchical structures to decentralized, community-driven approaches. This transit, which lasts roughly from 2023 to 2044, is associated with movements for social justice, technological innovation, and challenges to established authorities. It’s a time of potential for radical transformation, with a focus on equality, collaboration, and forward-thinking solutions.” ~ AI Overview
Power to the People
If we look at past eras when Pluto was in Aquarius, there were revolutions where the proletariat gained power. The last time Pluto was in Aquarius was 1778 to 1798, it was a time of uprisings that changed the world. A few key world changing events that happened during that time include:
- French Revolution
- American Revolution
- Age of Enlightenment
- Industrial Revolution
Pluto in Capricorn
Pluto spent 16 years in Capricorn. As we all know, Capricorn represents the system, structures, and guard rails we live within. Pluto entered Capricorn in 2008, bringing with it the financial crash and Great Recession. The Pluto in Capricorn era was a time of exposing the fraudulent systems put in place by those individuals who colonized and founded America. Now we’re forced to face the fact that this system was built for the wealthy white men of the 18th century.
Pluto’s last dip into Capricorn happened from September 1, 2024 until November 19, 2024. And we all know what happened during that time. To me it seemed unimaginable that a convicted criminal known for bankrupting six businesses and who fumbled and stumbled through his first presidency, would be America’s President once again. I’m now thinking this was Pluto in Capricorn’s final trick that would finalize his work in Capricorn.
If you’re paying attention at all… you can see America’s old systems, structures, and guard rails crumbling. AND…
“When America sneezes, the world catches a cold”
Just like America, many countries are facing challenges related to weakened institutions, political polarization, and declining trust in the democratic processes. Additionally, several nations are experiencing protracted conflicts, economic turmoil, and the consequences of climate change, which further strains the ability to maintain Capricorn stability.
It is just a fact that Pluto will destroy what was… so something new can grow.
The Seeds of a True Democracy
It seems the seeds for true democracy may have already been planted. I was reading my weekly Aeon Newsletter and was very impressed with this article which gave a lot of history on diplomacy before going into a new form of global diplomacy. The title: How to run the world ~ We need new forms of global diplomacy to transcend the current pathetic bargaining of national and commercial interests, written by David Van Reybrock. A link on the side of the piece led me to a book he’d written titled “Against Elections: The Case for Democracy”
Both have Pluto in Aquarius themes i.e. power to the people. I thought and hoped they might be of interest to you, especially if you’ve been wondering where we could go from here.
Penguin Book Review: Against Elections
“Whenever there are elections, the results are the same: fear-mongering, division, and broken promises. Against Elections offers a new diagnosis – and an ancient remedy.
‘Excellent . . . Why does our system keep electing people whose incomes, assets, interests, and psychology are hugely at variance with ours? Because that is what it is designed to do’ – George Monbiot, Guardian
‘Very persuasive . . . invigorating’ – Daniel Finkelstein, The Times
As this ingenious book shows, the original purpose of elections was not democracy: it was to exclude the people from power by appointing an elite to govern over them.
In fact, for most of its 3000-year history, democracy did not involve elections at all: members of the public were appointed to positions in government through a combination of volunteering and lottery.
Based on studies and trials from around the globe, this hugely influential manifesto presents the practical case for a true democracy – one that actually works.
Urgent, heretical, and completely convincing, Against Elections leaves only one question to be answered: what are we waiting for?”
‘Riveting’ – Irish Examiner
‘Persuasive’ – Financial Times
‘A convincing case’ – Observer

Against Elections has been translated into more than twenty languages and has led to the trial use of participatory democracy in numerous countries.
Could the collective reclaim its power during Pluto’s long journey through Aquarius? Is world wide participatory democracy the answer? Rebirthing Democracy will not be quick and it will not be easy!!!
