“We’re all born naked and the rest is drag”. ~ RuPaul
June is Pride Month, commemorating the Stonewall Riots and celebrating the ongoing fight for LGBTQ+ rights. The 1969 Stonewall Riots began as a group of drag queens actively resisted arrest.
Due to the popularity of his TV shows, including RuPaul’s Drag Race and his oversized personality, RuPaul has become a leading activist in the LGBTQ+ community, as well as the world’s most well-known Drag Queen.
RuPaul Andre Charles
RuPaul was born in San Diego, California in 1960. When he was 15, he moved with a sister to Atlanta, Georgia and attended Northside School of Performing Arts, but he didn’t graduate. He took off to New York City, performed in clubs and was eventually dubbed the Queen Of New York.
During his career, he’s recorded popular albums, acted in feature films and on TV, both in and out of drag. He was signed as a model with MAC cosmetics, then landed his own TV talk show, The RuPaul Show. But real fame came in 2009 with the debut of the long-running TV competition RuPaul’s Drag Race.
He has also hosted Saturday Night Live and guest hosted the Jimmy Kimmel show. He was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, where he tearfully told the audience that this was “absolutely the most important moment in my professional career.” (Read more about RuPaul online at Biography)
This year, 2025, RuPaul is hosting the seventeenth season of “RuPaul’s Drag Race” on MTV. He’ll also be touring with the “Werq the World“ tour. And is involved with “RuPaul’s Drag Race LIVE!” in Las Vegas.
Although he no longer dresses in drag “unless he is paid.” RuPaul dressed for success, and was successful. He’s won multiple Emmy awards, has entertained audiences around the world and has a huge loyal fan base.
RuPaul’s Birth Chart
RuPaul once said “I’m an introvert masquerading as an extrovert.” I’d say his birth chart confirms that. For the most part his private life has remained private.

Scorpio Stellium in the Fifth House
RuPaul has a 6th house Scorpio Sun, and a 5th house Deeply Balsamic Scorpio Moon, conjunct Mercury, the ruler of Gemini ASC, and Neptune, the ruler of his Pisces MC. With Gemini rising RuPaul’s wears the mask of a comedic trickster. And with Pisces on the MC, RuPaul has a glamorous, alluring, and mystical public persona – both in and out of drag.
Scorpio and Masquerade
Scorpios are known for their secretive and intense nature, making them well-suited to the role of hiding or playing a character behind a mask. The term “masquerade” itself suggests a concealment of identity, which aligns with Scorpio’s tendency to stay in the background.
The combination of Scorpio’s inherent traits and the melodrama of “RuPaul’s Drag Race”, which is in essence a masquerade, creates a fascinating dynamic. Scorpio is naturally drawn to the idea of hidden identities and the ability to express themselves through disguise makes masquerading a fun and transformative experience for them. And with a 5th house Scorpio stellium RuPaul needed to find ways to release his inner melodrama … his professional life was to be RuPaul’s stage.
Uranus in Leo
The generation with Uranus in Leo carries the spark of creative revolution and radical individuality. RuPaul has that in spades. With Uranus in Leo, he has an intense urge towards creative self-expression. RuPaul’s Uranus in Leo compelled him to claim personal significance by taking center stage in unique, out-of-the-box, and melodramatic way. Uranus in the third house is exactly Square his Scorpio Sun … in effect also the Scorpio stellium… this challenged him to express his creative self through his melodramatic Drag Queen performances.
RuPaul’s Seventh House
With a Sagittarius DEC, Jupiter in Capricorn not only rules but is in his 7th house conjunct Venus in Capricorn. Saturn is strong in Capricorn, the sign it rules, and it’s also in the 7th house.
As you can imagine RuPaul would take a committed relationship very seriously and would be in it for the long haul. Thankfully Jupiter conjunct Venus in the 7th indicates he would be lucky in love.
RuPaul has been with his now husband, Georges LeBar, since 1994 when they met in a New York City club. They dated for approximately 23 years before getting married in 2017.
“He’s devoted to me, I’m devoted to him, and that’s the end of the story.” ~ RuPaul in a 2013 Oprah Winfrey segment.
RuPaul’s “We’re all born naked and the rest is drag,” and Shakespeare’s “All the World’s a Stage,” helps us to realize that everyone acts out their roles in different scenes, and on different stages.
